Ethereum Foundation: Ethereum 2.0 will be launched on December 1
The developers have released version 1.0 of the spec for Ethereum 2.0. The blockchain update is scheduled for December 1, 2020.
According to an article on the Ethereum Foundation blog, the first version of Ethereum 2.0 should be launched on December 1 at 15:00 GMT, if there are at least 16,384 validators on the network. Each validator needs to block 32 ETH for staking, the total cost of which will be equivalent to $ 209 million.
The Ethereum Foundation has also released version 1.0 of the specification for Ethereum 2.0. The developers launched the Launch Pad to register users as Ethereum 2.0 validators, which contains the main address of the escrow contract for asset escrow.
The developers note that cryptoassets should not be sent directly to the deposit contract, but should be blocked through the staking mechanism in the Launch Pad. ConsenSys tweeted on Twitter:
“Remember: don’t send ETH to a deposit contract! Sending ETH to this contract address will result in a failed transaction and does not mean that you have blocked assets for staking in ETH 2.0. ”
As a reminder, yesterday the Ethereum 2.0 developers published a tool on GitHub to generate the keys required to make a staking deposit in ETH 2.0.
